About

Built for drivers

Full Stop Garage starts with a car our founder wishes he still had.He sold it because there was nowhere to put the next one. This is the building that would have saved it.

The history

Founder and former City of Miami Commissioner Ken Russell grew up taking care of cars. He developed an appreciation for cars as things to be cared for and driven. Years later, he taught himself welding, painting, electrical and interior work while restoring a 1965 Volvo 1800S he named the Sinner.

When Ken ran out of space for another project, he sold the Volvo, a decision he still regrets. As his collection grew, the same problem kept returning. Full Stop Garage grew from his need for secure storage where cars could be protected, cared for and ready to drive.

That is the whole origin. Not a business plan looking for a market, a problem he had four or five times over until he did something about it.

The Sinner. The 1965 Volvo 1800S, the car that started it all.

We didn't build a vault. We found one.

The building is a 15,000-square-foot former DEA safehouse. It was chosen for the security that was already in it, because a building designed to hold things the federal government could not afford to lose starts a long way ahead of a building designed to hold pallets.

Bulletproof window glass. Steel roll-down doors. Fire suppression. 24/7 security with full-color night vision and around-the-clock monitoring. Vehicle-storage areas held between 70 and 75 degrees, every day, not only when the Miami weather makes it obvious.

Why here

What sets us apart

Most of this category competes on square footage and on adjectives. These are four physical properties of one building in Miami-Dade, and each of them is either true of the address or it is not.

    01

    Above the flood zone

South Florida stores a great many cars at ground level in a city that floods. Elevation is not a feature anyone can add later, and it is not something a competitor can answer by buying equipment.

FEMA National Flood Hazard Layer, panel 12086C, read 16 September 2026. The address is an area of minimal flood hazard, outside the Special Flood Hazard Area.

    02

    Fire suppression

A suppression system, in a building full of fuel tanks and lithium batteries. It is not standard across the operators we measured, which says more about the category than about us.

  • A board-formed concrete pillar meeting a thick laminated security window, its layers visible at the edge of the glass

    03

Built like the vault it was

Bulletproof window glass and steel roll-down doors, inherited from a former DEA safehouse rather than specified from a catalogue. The federal government picked this building first.

  • A wall-mounted climate control unit and its ducting above a row of covered cars in a cool, hazy storage hall

    04

    A number, not an adjective

Vehicle-storage areas are held between 70 and 75 degrees, every day. Most operators say climate controlled and stop. A range you can hold us to is a different kind of promise.

Ex-Miami official launches vehicle storage business

The South Florida Business Journal covered the opening of Full Stop Garage in Doral: the lease on a former federal evidence warehouse, what the building already had that made it worth taking, and founder Ken Russell's case for a storage business that is not a members' club.

“What's in the middle that hasn't really been tapped is just a true high-quality, but no-frills, drivers' garage.”

A stored car should still be a car

Most storage treats a car like furniture. Park it, shut the door, hand it back months later flat, dead and needing a weekend before it drives. We think that is the wrong way round. A car that gets driven is the reason any of this exists.

01

It should start

From GT up, the battery is kept on charge, the car is started every month and the tires are rolled, so nothing seizes and nothing flat spots while it sits.

02

You shouldn't have to come to us

Door-to-door pickup and drop-off is available with all three packages. We collect the car from wherever it is and bring it back to the same place.

03

It should fit how you actually live

A stay can be pro-rated by the day if you only need the car held for a short trip. If you have a collection, cars can be rotated, so you change which ones stay home and which stay with us.

Come and look at it

The honest way to decide is to stand in it. Pick a time and someone will walk you round the floor. No obligation, and nobody is going to follow you out to the car park.
